Surnames: LANGWORTHY
Submitter: Dan Langworthy (dan@langworthy-home.com)
Date: 15 Nov 2002

I am searching for information on my Grandfather, James N. LANGWORTHY, his brother, Elton C. LANGWORTHY, and my Great-Grandmother, Mary O. LANGWORTHY who lived in the Pagosa Springs area in about 1905. I believe James left Pagosa Springs in about 1906 and do not know when the others left or when they arrived in Archuleta County. James was a rancher, and his mother lived in town. James and Elton were Spanish-American war veterans. It is not known what happened to the ranch. Mary died in Westcliffe in 1918. A family story has it that James was married and that his wife died after being bucked off a horse. This would have had to be during the time they were in Archuleta County. James died in Canon City in 1971 and Elton died in Oregon in 1963. I have a pretty good idea about James' history after leaving Archuleta Co. but very little before. I have very little information about Elton. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Surnames: BERARD HICKS VAN VOAST DAVIS PONDER RANK AUSTIN MATTOCKS TUFFY
Submitter: Ann Hartney (hartney_a@fortlewis.edu)
Date: 27 Jul 2001

I purchased a large collection of photos (and some postcards) of individuals connected to Pagosa Springs, CO and Chama, NM in the late 1800s to mid 1900s. They had all once been compiled in a family photo album, but the antique store owner had rifled through the album, detaching and mixing the photos, then selecting many for (presumably) individual resale. I decided to buy what remained to rescue them from further pillaging and to try to get them in the hands of a family member for whom this would likely prove a valuable family/genealogical treasure. Many of the photos are unmarked, but I've gathered from everything the following surnames: BERARD, HICKS, VAN VOAST, DAVIS, PONDER, RANK, AUSTIN, MATTOCKS. Prominent in the collection are employees of "Annie's Cafe" in Chama, NM and numerous WWII military photos centering on a man named (or nicknamed) "Tuffy". I would really like to see this go to a family member and ask only reimbursement of my costs. So, if you're interested, let me know how you are related to this family and tell me how the different surnames connect.

Surnames: REVERA PARR
Submitter: Pam (Uihlein)
Date: 21 May 1998
I am currently researching for a book on the history of the wolf in Colorado and am interested in verifying a particular incident. Supposedly, in April 1916 a rabid wolf killed three of Lee L. Parr's sheep and then proceeded to bite the herder, Miquel Revera, who died of his wound in July 1916. Lee L. Parr died in 1934 and is buried in the Hilltop Cemetary. I would like to find family relatives of either Lee Parr or Miquel Revera to try and confirm this unique event. I can be reached at brwnpalace@aol.com.. Thank you very much! Pam Uihlein
